10 Things To Remember Every Time You Want To Give Up Your Creative Path

There is an ugliness in being paid for work one does not like, finding a sense of purpose and doing what you love is one of the greatest human aspirations.
To stay creative it takes a lot of perseverance. You have to remember that the best things rarely happen overnight.
Through my life I have been able to do what I truly love, which is more valuable than any cash you could throw at me.

I’m still learning but the more you do what you love the more difficult it is to give up. However we all have a moment when we want to give up, that’s why I have created 10 points to keep you in the right track.

1- Success has nothing to do with money. This is something we should always remember. Success for me is choosing what you want to do with your time each day. Money is just a medium. Having money but not enjoying what you do through most of your days is the biggest poverty one can experience.

2- Work with what you already have, not what you think you need. If you are waiting to get the right camera, the amazing computer, the software etc.… If you wait you might end up doing nothing. Work with what you have right now; Don’t wait until you get ‘this and that’ just start. I believe when we lack of ‘things’ we are more inventive and creative. Always remember people through out of history have created amazing things and they started in their garage with home made materials.

3- Don’t be scared of failure or rejection. Let me make it easy for you. I’m 100% sure you’ll be rejected and for sure not only once through out your life and you will fail a lot too. Because the more you do and take risks the more you are likely to fail. The sooner you feel comfortable with rejection and failure the better. You will achieve greater things.

4- Work hard. Take action. This is pretty straightforward, if you want to be amazing at something you have to spend a lot of hours doing it. The good news are if you love what you do, you will work hard naturally because you won’t feel it as work you will feel alive.

5- Always listen to your heart, do not listen to people.  Most people will try to ‘help’ you with their advice. They mean well, however most of them they speak from their own personal experience. I’m not saying to ignore people’s advice but what I suggest is to trust in your ‘gut, feeling’. The answer is always inside not outside. Believe in yourself.

6- Don’t be scare of struggle and hardship. I believe struggle and hardship make us better human beings. I have learnt so many things out of hardship and struggle, I could never regret anything, even if at times was very painful, at the end everything is worth it, the good, the bad, the more I struggle the more I see struggle from a positive perspective and I pay less attention to it.

7- Surround yourself with positive people.  This could make a big difference in your wellbeing.  I had times in my life when I’ve been isolated in the wrong place, being surrounded with negativity and hate for a long time can make you negative and depress too. Surround yourself with people who makes you smile, people who brings the best out of you.

8- Collaborate with other people. I like collaborating with people from different backgrounds; I only care about their energy and how I connect with them.

9- Dream. Never stop dreaming. Imagination is having wings.

10- Never ever believe in ‘retirement’. The greatest you can obtain from life is the pleasure in producing, in your own individual way, if you do that, why would you need to retire?

  2. This was truly inspiring and, of course, motivating to read - I've saved this post to my favourites to glance at whenver I'm in need of a reminder as to why I should continue on the path I've (daringly) chosen! Number three has really opened my eyes and I'm already very familiar with number nine haha. Thank you and Happy Halloween! :)

  4. I particularly agree with Point 2- I've wanted to start up a new site for years but have been procrastinating about not not knowing the right webdeveloper, wanting to wait till I had done so and so job, but now I have decided to just get on with it, making the best of what I actually have, and it feels good! X

  5. My biggest challenge is #3. I have a fear of success and, because of that, always find ways wherein to sabotage my own endeavours. I am trying very very hard to stop doing that. Thank you so much for sharing this.
