Dale Chihuy| Beyond the Object

A couple of weeks ago, I went to see Dale Chihuy exhibition at the Halcyon Gallery  in Bond Street. You'll enter under a dramatic lit work called the Persian Pergola Ceiling, before seeing more chandeliers - several of them suspended over floor installations. I knew some of his work because one of his glass sculptures it is hanging at the entrance of the V&A Museum and I read about a new Chihuly commission for Harrods his 1,400-piece Amber and Gold Chandelier will be unveiled in the Grand Hal.
Dale Chihuy is an internationally acclaimed American artist working in the realm of glass sculpture, Chihuly heads a team that has had unparalleled influence on the development of glassblowing as a medium for large-scale assemblages and installations. His experimentation with natural forms bridges the distinctions between craft and art, between representation and abstraction, while a riotous play of colour focuses the eye on brilliant and beautiful excess.

I did a small video in Instagram about the exhibition. You can see it here!
