My Best Spots to Visit while in Paris

If you are an expat, or even if you are just visiting Paris these days for Paris Fashion Week, apart from the classic tourist places to visit, like The Eiffel tower, Louvre Museum (Mona Lisa),Versailles, Notre Dame. Here are a few places which I think you may find interesting.  If you are looking for hotels around these main tourist places you can always check Hotel Direct  to find all different hotels according to your budget and needs. So here a few spots I have visited myself and also friends living in Paris have told me about it.

Another interesting place to visit while in Paris is the bookstore 7L, Located 7 rue de Lille, in the 7th district of Paris, not far from Saint Germain des Prés, from the Louvre museum, and from the Orsay museum, the 7L Bookshop was created by Karl Lagerfeld in December 1999. The bookshop specializes in photographs, design, interior design. Also, offers a large selection of catalogs and monographs, all dedicated to fashion art!

La Cinémathèque
Since 1955, the French Cinémathèque located in 51, rue de Bercy, has nourished generations of world film-makers and cinéphiles visiting and living in Paris with a screen dedicated to the history of cinema and another to retrospectives. With four screens, two temporary exhibitions, archives, a library and a restaurant. If you are a film lover this is the place to go.

Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP)
Known as "La Mèpe" by Parisians, here is a much-loved and still little-known venue for photography exhibitions.
Situated in the historic heart of the capital, at 5-7, rue de Fourcy. The Maison Européenne de la Photographie is dedicated to contemporary creation. This new type of cultural building houses an exhibition center, a large reference library, a videotape library stocked with most films produced by or about photographs, and an auditorium.

Mountreuil Flea Market

This interesting market, in the east of the city, not far from the town of Montreuil, located at Porte de Montreuil you can still get real bargains spending a little money, it mainly stocks second-hand clothes (in good condition) and designer seconds. If wearing second hand clothes is not your thing, then browse through jewelry, antique engravings, appliances, crockery and even old furniture.

Galerie Gagosian
Gagosian Galerie located at 4 rue de Ponthieu has offered Parisians interesting diptych exhibitions such in contemporary art with artist such a Rodin and Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Prince and Jean Nouvel

And finally how about to finished your day with some tacos and cocktails? La Candelaria, located at 52 rue Saintonge, serves authentic Mexican food and fresh tacos. This places is famous between all French hipsters and Americans living in Paris. But the real fun is that when you finish stuffing yourself with tacos and guacamole, there is a hidden and very cozy clandestine bar in the back serving elaborate cocktails and many sorts of tequila.
So if you are going to be in Paris for Fashion Week don't forget to check some of  these places. Do you have other places that we can add to the list?

  1. Oh thanks for the tips, I will have to save these for the next time I visit, they all sound wonderful. I love the Colette store too, the address is 213 Rue Saint Honoré. Lots of lovely goodies that I can't really afford! N x

  3. Awesome! I'm hoping to go this summer to Paris and I'm so excited to try and find some of these places. I'm definitely going to hit up the flea market. And while I'm all up for trying snails, some yummy tacos might be a safer bet. Thanks for the comment!
