DIY| Martin Maison Margiela Converse Collaboration

Maison Martin Margiela's new collaboration with converse, sees scratch-off white sneakers reveal bright color underneath. These limited-edition sneakers have been hand-painted and will develop a unique patina with age. The addition of a supple leather lining is just the icing on the cake. The collection will be available later this month at select Converse First String retailers and Maison Martin Margiela boutiques.

'The Maison has always been obsessed with white; it is used as a layer to give an incognito feeling,' explained Maison Martin Margiela in a release. 'A sort of poetry, with the passage of time, the shoe asserts itself.

I couldn't resist to DIY some old converses with white matt wall paint and experiment with the result. So far, I'm very happy with the end result, not sure how long will take for the paint to crack up or if they will crack up at all , but I shall let you know in a couple of weeks how they are looking.
Apart from the fact that these don't have the leather lining like Margiela's ones they look pretty similar, and option  if you can't afford to pay $200 for the original ones.

  1. i saw this collab between converse and MMM and immediately thought: DIY!!! great post. i will definitely be doing this...i think it's a great idea to use interior wall paint too, instead of fabric paint, which is what i thought i might use originally ;) x
