Why I believe creativity improves confidence

Picasso said: "All children's are born artists"
I couldn't agree more. Creativity is the best tool that we all have to express who we are just remember when you were a kid must kids love drawing, dancing, singing, cooking, building, etc..They enjoy these activities because they can express themselves and generally feel happy whenever they do these.
So why we stop? Somewhere along the line we seem to stop because we are too busy with our 'proper job' and why we should invest time in something that will not provide enough money to pay the bills? Money is important but is also important to be happy and working only to pay bills could affect the way you feel inside and outside (stress, depression, low self-esteem etc..) I think is important to find a meaning in your life, a career that you feel passionate about, because you will always give your best and will always work hard when you do what you love.
Sometimes you can do what you love as a hobby and have other job to pay the bills, not only the things that make you earn money are important, I believe we feed our spirit when we do all those things that we used to love when we were kids.Art connects your inner self with the exterior.

Everybody is creative but like Matisse said: "Creativity takes courage"
Write, paint, sing, cook, dance etc.. making things will make you feel great you don't have to be 'perfect' and do everything in the 'correct' way, must of the greatest artist didn't follow the rules and certainly didn't care what people thought. The most important thing is to make things you love and often.
Confidence isn't in a new pair of shoes. Confidence is in what you make of your life everyday not by working in a job you hate or procrastinating everything. Your confidence grows when you make things you love, when you are creative, when you take action.

  4. ahh i so agree! I was just thinking about this actually! It's like our creativity is limited after we "grow up" to be adultss... We should continue, and let it guide us :) it's healthy!

  5. I really appreciated reading this post. It reminds me how much I loved writing poems, stories and painting during my childhood. I studied italian literature, loved reading books then I started studying international relations. While it was really interesting I couldn't help but feeling that my brain was totally lacking of creativity. I must say that it's when I began blogging that I found back my creativity. I certainly don't draw, paint or write but I consider what I do on my blog as creative, I like doing research, writing, doing interviews and above all meeting creative people through blogging.

I always appreciate reading you really, you are a creative person and in my opinion always bring your readers to be creative minds too.

  6. I try and put a child's perspective on everything I create, to not judge or worry about what other people may think of it. Of course, the feeling doesn't always last but as you say it's important to keep hold of that childlike view of the world, to just do something because it's fun.

It's nice to hear that someone feels the same.

  8. For sure creativity improves confidence, and I think age does too, well for me anyway. I found that the older I got the less I gave a shit, which made me take more risks which one often needs confidence to do...

  11. You hit a bit of a soft spot with me. We all get so bogged down with the work to live ethos, that sometimes we forget that side of us that needs to come out and be fed! Good thought provoking post! xx

  12. Very inspiring to read! I have just been on a two month road trip around Europe and after coming bakc I have really tried to acctually DO something during the days (I am not working at the moment) and it feels great! Going to have a reunion with some friends that were with me in France so I am trying to make macarons and folding small boxes decorated with tin foil to keep them in. It is turning out super cute and I do feel really proud! Also started with a training log and cut out all these sport pictures, salads, fruit drinks and nature stuff to make it more inspiring:) I really like the text in the picture here "be free creative".

  13. Couldn't agree more Victoria, well written and so true. I have a Commerce degree and everyone thinks I am crazy I left that secured road to pursue a different venue in Fashion. I won't say it is easier but I am much happier now and I truly love what I am doing. Befor ei felt like i was slowing decreasing my creativity and killing the inner confidence. x
