Art/ Yayoi Kusama

Last week I went to see Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Tate Modern, her art encompasses an astonishing variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, performance and immersive installation. Kusama has lived voluntarily in a psychiatric institution, and much of her work has been marked with obsessiveness and a desire to escape from psychological trauma. In an attempt to share her experiences, she creates installations that immerse the viewer in her obsessively charged vision of endless dots and nets or infinitely mirrored space as you can see in photo 5 and 6 the visual effect reminded me the days I used to eat mushrooms with a treat ;) and she is polka dot maniac.
Yayoi Kusama is sort of the Japanese version of Tracey Emin, The exhibition will be open till June so you have plenty of time to go go go!

  7. I'd really like to see this exhibition. Massive shame that I live in the North! Sorry to hear about the sunglasses. I've sat on so many prized possessions that I could fill a small house with their shattered remnants!

  11. This exhibition seems to be SO interesting, I've been interested in Japan for such a long time that each time I hear about some artist from there I would look, but I must say that I've never heard of this woman. Her process of creation is quite interesting AND disturbing at the same time but the result is totally impressive ! I wish I could be in London right now to be able to see this exhibition :'(.

Thank you very much for your comment on the outfit post :). I absolutely wanted a contrast :). I actually pay attention to shoes when I first see someone, you know it is just like the unexpected element lol. When you see the shoes of someone you can tell if he is easy going, neat, classy, funky, funny, you are absolutely right it can tells a lot about someone's personality !

  19. When I was in London i also get to the Tate for this exhivition and it was sooo amazing!! This is the kind of art that let you feel what you want to feel and doesn't impose you something, a difine meaning. And it's my favorite kind of art!!
